Preparation…More than Packing… Preparing your Hearts…
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
It was the last night of a short term mission trip. One of the team members had been asking to sing for a church service. The leader, knowing she couldn’t sing well and lacked confidence, said that “maybe sometime” she could sing. But this was the last day of the trip.
No accompaniment, no starting note. Her eyes darted around the room as she sang. Her voice was shaky, and she was losing pitch, eventually singing monotone.
The team leader was apologizing for the poor performance. A woman in the audience cried as she told the pastor how she had not been to church for a long time and her life was a shambles. She felt compelled to come, and knew God had brought her to hear the angel who had sung that morning. She went on to say that the girl’s crystal clear voice and the brilliance of her message was just what God used to touch her life. What just happened? It was an embarrassing performance, yet the woman heard an angel!
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord jesus. What e you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord. This young lady had a song to sing and she did it as unto the Lord. So God blessed. To a perfectionist, it had been embarrassing. To God, it was a triumph!
Often we are consumed with what others thing, or we are governed by our perfectionist tendencies and we strive the THE best. But God only asks for YOUR best. Do YOUR best for God and let God take care of the rest.

Information that is helpful…
- I am getting some individual questions and assume there may be others asking the same so I am going to pass them on…
- Guys are fine to work and be in the kind of shorts that you wear today that are typically longer such as to the knee. Women are also fine in shorts/crop pants. Just no short/shorts please.
- Leave your expensive jewels at home!!
- I don’t know where it said to bring a roll of toilet paper and a hand towel but they would be nice when out working in the daytime as those will not be readily available.
- Remember, let your credit card companies know that there will be “unusual activity” on your credit card. You can do that by calling the 1-800 number on the card and you will be prompted to reporting the dates of activity.
